About the Journal

Journal of Applied Geo and Tech Systems (JAGTS) is a peer-reviewed, open-access international journal dedicated to publishing pioneering research at the convergence of geospatial science, Earth observation, geotechnical engineering, spatial data infrastructure, and advanced technology systems. Positioned as a premier interdisciplinary engineering and applied science scholarly forum, the journal serves geoscientists, GIS specialists, remote sensing experts, civil and geotechnical engineers, spatial data architects, and environmental technology analysts worldwide. JAGTS prioritizes high-impact empirical research, spatial analytics, satellite image processing models, geotechnical sensor deployments, hazard risk modeling, and integrated smart-infrastructure systems. By synthesizing geographic information science with modern computational techniques, IoT sensing, and geotechnical engineering practices, the journal fosters a deep, comprehensive understanding of how spatial intelligence and applied geo-technologies address pressing environmental, structural, and urban challenges.

Scope and Topics
Reflecting its mandate to advance applied geospatial methods and integrated technology systems, the journal welcomes high-quality original research articles, systematic technical reviews, spatial modeling studies, and field-tested engineering evaluations within the following thematic areas:
  • Geospatial Technologies & Remote Sensing: Satellite Earth observation, UAV/drone aerial mapping, LiDAR data processing, spatial big data analytics, and geographic information systems (GIS) software architectures.
  • Geotechnical Systems & Earth Engineering: Soil mechanics modeling, foundation engineering systems, rock mechanics, slope stability monitoring, underground infrastructure engineering, and soil-structure interaction.
  • Geo-Informatics, Geo-AI & Spatial Computing: Machine learning applications in spatial analysis, predictive terrain modeling, automated feature extraction, geospatial digital twins, and cloud-based GIS workflows.
  • Applied Geohazards, Risk Analytics & Disaster Management: Early warning system architectures, landslide and flood risk mapping, seismic hazard modeling, coastal erosion tracking, and climate adaptation geo-technology.
  • Smart Cities, Geodesy & Infrastructure Systems: Precision geodesy and GNSS systems, urban spatial planning technologies, smart infrastructure monitoring via geo-sensors, underground utility mapping, and BIM-GIS integration.
Publication Frequency
To ensure rigorous editorial oversight, thorough peer review, and the timely dissemination of applied geospatial and technology systems research, JAGTS is published semi-annually (2 issues per year, typically scheduled for release in June and December). Special thematic issues focusing on Geo-AI in disaster management, satellite remote sensing for infrastructure monitoring, or UAV applications in geotechnical survey may be commissioned by the Editorial Board.

Peer Review Process
JAGTS enforces a strict double-blind peer review policy to maintain the highest standards of scientific integrity, technical accuracy, and methodological validity across geospatial and engineering disciplines.
  • Initial Desk Evaluation: Every submission undergoes a preliminary screening by the Editor-in-Chief or a relevant Subject Editor to assess technical alignment, methodological soundness (spatial data accuracy, numerical simulation rigor, sensor calibration validity, or field-testing protocols), and structural compliance. Plagiarism screening via Turnitin/iThenticate is strictly executed at this stage, requiring a similarity index below the journal's maximum threshold.
  • Expert Peer Review: Manuscripts passing the desk evaluation are anonymized and assigned to at least two independent international reviewers who are established academic researchers, senior geoscientists, or specialized geotechnical engineering experts.
  • Editorial Decision: Based on the reviewers' recommendations, the Editorial Board renders one of four decisions: Acceptance, Revisions Required (Minor/Major), Resubmit for Review, or Rejection. The final decision rests entirely on intellectual merit, technical rigor, analytical accuracy, and practical engineering or environmental impact.
