Journal of Earth, Data and Engineering Systems (JEDES) is a peer-reviewed, open-access international journal dedicated to publishing pioneering research at the nexus of Earth observation, environmental data analytics, civil and geotechnical engineering, spatial informatics, and computational earth-system modeling. Positioned as a premier interdisciplinary engineering and geosciences scholarly forum, the journal serves geoscientists, computational engineers, environmental data scientists, remote sensing specialists, civil infrastructure analysts, and spatial software architects worldwide. JEDES prioritizes high-impact empirical research, large-scale geospatial analytics, environmental sensor integration, numerical geomechanics modeling, and intelligent engineering frameworks for hazard mitigation and land-use dynamics. By synthesizing physical Earth dynamics with big data computing, sensor architectures, and structural engineering methodologies, the journal fosters a deep, comprehensive understanding of how data-driven engineering systems address planetary change, natural hazards, and infrastructure resilience.

Scope and Topics
Reflecting its mandate to integrate Earth science observations with computational data analytics and engineering systems, the journal welcomes high-quality original research articles, systematic technical reviews, computational modeling studies, and field-tested engineering evaluations within the following thematic areas:

Earth Systems Modeling & Environmental Data Analytics: Climate and environmental data analytics, multi-scale Earth system modeling, atmospheric/hydrological sensor processing, oceanographic monitoring, and environmental informatics.

Geospatial Data Infrastructures & Remote Sensing Systems: High-resolution satellite Earth observation, LiDAR and radar imaging, drone/UAV aerial surveys, spatial big data architectures, and GIS data pipelines.

Geotechnical & Infrastructure Engineering Systems: Soil and rock mechanics, foundation design in complex geology, underground engineering systems, soil-structure interaction, and structural health monitoring using geo-sensors.

Geo-AI, Spatial Computing & Digital Twins: Machine learning in Earth and planetary sciences, dynamic terrain modeling, automated hazard detection, computational geomechanics, and spatial digital twins for civil engineering.

Applied Geohazards, Disaster Risk Mitigation & Sustainability: Landslide, earthquake, and flood risk assessment, early warning sensor networks, climate-adaptive civil infrastructure engineering, and natural resource management systems.

Publication Frequency
To ensure rigorous editorial oversight, thorough peer review, and the timely dissemination of Earth, data, and engineering systems research, JEDES is published semi-annually (2 issues per year, typically scheduled for release in June and December). Special thematic issues focusing on Geo-AI in natural hazard mitigation, big data infrastructures for Earth observation, or climate-resilient geotechnical designs may be commissioned by the Editorial Board.

Peer Review Process
JEDES enforces a strict double-blind peer review policy to maintain the highest standards of scientific integrity, computational precision, and methodological validity across engineering and geosciences disciplines.

Initial Desk Evaluation: Every submission undergoes a preliminary screening by the Editor-in-Chief or a relevant Subject Editor to assess technical alignment, methodological soundness (numerical simulation rigor, spatial data precision, sensor calibration validity, or field-testing protocols), and structural compliance. Plagiarism screening via Turnitin/iThenticate is strictly executed at this stage, requiring a similarity index below the journal's maximum threshold.

Expert Peer Review: Manuscripts passing the desk evaluation are anonymized and assigned to at least two independent international reviewers who are established academic researchers, senior geoscientists, or specialized computational engineering experts.

Editorial Decision: Based on the reviewers' recommendations, the Editorial Board renders one of four decisions: Acceptance, Revisions Required (Minor/Major), Resubmit for Review, or Rejection. The final decision rests entirely on intellectual merit, technical rigor, analytical accuracy, and practical engineering or planetary impact.

Mission Statement: "The mission of the Journal of Earth, Data and Engineering Systems (JEDES) is to advance global scholarship by unifying Earth science observations, advanced data computing, and engineering methodologies to design resilient, sustainable, and intelligent systems for society. Grounded in the philosophy that addressing modern environmental and structural challenges requires data-rich insights combined with robust engineering execution, the journal aims to democratize applied geosciences research by providing an unrestricted platform for global academic, technical, and policy dialogue. Through the promotion of diverse, rigorous quantitative, computational, field-experimental, and spatial methodologies, JEDES seeks to empower geoscientists, inspire engineering innovators, and shape future-proof Earth and data engineering paradigms worldwide."
