About the Journal

Journal of Modern Engineering Intelligence (JMEI) is a peer-reviewed, open-access international journal dedicated to publishing pioneering research at the intersection of modern engineering disciplines, artificial intelligence, cyber-physical automation, intelligent hardware design, and cognitive industrial systems. Positioned as a premier engineering and computational intelligence scholarly forum, the journal serves mechanical engineers, robotics specialists, software architects, control systems engineers, industrial AI researchers, and smart manufacturing strategists worldwide. JMEI prioritizes high-impact empirical research, neural-network-driven engineering optimizations, computational mechanics models, physical prototype validations, and real-time adaptive systems engineering. By embedding machine intelligence, autonomous decision-making, and advanced predictive analytics into core engineering frameworks, the journal fosters a deep, comprehensive understanding of how intelligent engineering systems drive industrial autonomy, structural reliability, and technical innovation.

Scope and Topics
Reflecting its mandate to advance the integration of modern artificial intelligence and classical engineering systems, the journal welcomes high-quality original research articles, systematic technical reviews, computational modeling studies, and field-tested engineering evaluations within the following thematic areas:
  • Artificial Intelligence in Engineering Design & Mechanics: AI-driven generative design, topology optimization, machine learning in finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and physics-informed neural networks (PINNs).
  • Robotics, Autonomous Systems & Smart Automation: Autonomous mobile robots, intelligent motion planning, multi-robot co-op systems, cobots in manufacturing, dynamic system control, and adaptive computer vision.
  • Cyber-Physical Systems, Industrial IoT & Digital Twins: Intelligent sensor architectures, edge computing for smart hardware, digital twin frameworks, predictive maintenance algorithms, and real-time operational optimization.
  • Intelligent Mechatronics, Embedded AI & Hardware: Embedded neural network accelerators, smart actuators, adaptive signal processing in control hardware, intelligent energy harvesting, and mechatronic control optimization.
  • Smart Manufacturing, Sustainable Engineering & Process Control: AI in additive and digital manufacturing, intelligent supply chain logistics, adaptive quality inspection systems, and energy-efficient industrial process optimization.
Publication Frequency
To ensure rigorous editorial oversight, thorough peer review, and the timely dissemination of engineering intelligence research, JMEI is published semi-annually (2 issues per year, typically scheduled for release in June and December). Special thematic issues focusing on physics-informed AI in structural mechanics, edge-AI in robotics, or digital twins for industrial infrastructure may be commissioned by the Editorial Board.

Peer Review Process
JMEI enforces a strict double-blind peer review policy to maintain the highest standards of technical integrity, algorithmic correctness, and experimental repeatability across engineering and computational intelligence disciplines.
  • Initial Desk Evaluation: Every submission undergoes a preliminary screening by the Editor-in-Chief or a relevant Engineering Subject Editor to assess technical alignment, methodological soundness (algorithm design rigor, physical prototype validation, numerical simulation accuracy, or mathematical proof validity), and structural compliance. Plagiarism screening via Turnitin/iThenticate is strictly executed at this stage, requiring a similarity index below the journal's maximum threshold.
  • Expert Peer Review: Manuscripts passing the desk evaluation are anonymized and assigned to at least two independent international reviewers who are established academic researchers, senior industrial AI specialists, or expert engineering practitioners.
  • Editorial Decision: Based on the reviewers' recommendations, the Editorial Board renders one of four decisions: Acceptance, Revisions Required (Minor/Major), Resubmit for Review, or Rejection. The final decision rests entirely on intellectual merit, technical rigor, experimental clarity, and potential industrial or technological impact.
